Projector display changing resolution or size without reason

This problem has beset us for months and no solution could be found – until now.

Easy Worship 7 is projecting via a new projector capable of displaying the full 1920x1080 resolution of our AV laptop, but intermittently changes display resolution and/or displayed size leaving us with a blank space around the projected display or at each side. This problem disappears after each and every Windows 10 update, but it's only a matter of time before it will recur.

It's not a Windows problem, not really. It's not an Easy Worship problem either, not really.

It's a user problem, or someone being "helpful" without realising the "help" is knocking the software off kilter. It's caused by switching the projector off before Windows has been shut down. Windows monitors hardware constantly and detects the projector has "disappeared" from the system. Next time the system is all switched on, or if you switch the projector back on, Windows will have changed the projector display settings. The screen resolution might have changed, or the refresh rate, but often both. A Windows update usually checks all these things and sets everything back to what it should be, but you have to check both settings yourself if you can't wait for an update.

Note: even if the screen resolution is correct, the wrong refresh rate will likely give your projector trouble. If it expects 60 Hz, it won't like 59 Hz, or 59.940 Hz. You'll find the refresh rate under Windows Sytem settings, Display, Advanced display settings.

Hope this helps someone.
