Joe, It doesn't use the schedules. EW will keep track of when a song Goes Live and how many times you Go Live to it. It will also track when a song is added to your database. So, even if you go live to a song during your practice or when setting up the schedule, it will show in the report.
You can get those stats from the Song Activity Report.

You can send a song live in EW by double clicking on it either in the Resource area or from the schedule. You can also select a song from the resources or the schedule and then click the Go Live button at the top.
In other words, I have to use the computer that is used to project items on Sunday mornings ... I can't do it from a list at home with a different computer.

For EW to report the song in the activity report, it has to go live on that same computer, yes.
If you want to use the SongSelect auto-reporting, any computer that you use that has an internet connection and is signed into your Songselect account and auto-reporting is turned on will send the report to SongSelect when you go live to the song.

How does the report function collect the information on what song is used per service? Is it a compilation of Schedules over the set time period? What if schedules are saved in several locations on the computer over a year- how does all of that information get collected? This has happened on our computer- multiple Save locations were used accidentally.
