Reinstalling Microsoft Office - PowerPoint

Modified on: Tue, 1 Oct, 2024 at 12:51 PM

Issue

We have found many PowerPoint problems are due to having multiple versions of Microsoft Office installed or there are remnants of an old version of PowerPoint that are left behind after uninstalling or upgrading. This process will clear Office off the computer completely so you can install a fresh new copy of Office on the computer.

Solution

Before starting this process, make sure you have your Office license information or login information before removing Office from your computer. You will be required to re-register Office after reinstalling it.

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Uninstall Office using the Office Uninstaller Tool provided on the Microsoft website. (Click here)
(You will choose Option 2 - Completely uninstall Office with the uninstall support tool)
  2. Restart the computer.
  3. Click here to download the Office Registry Cleaner file. (DO NOT RUN IT YET)
  4. Once the Office Registry Cleaner file is downloaded, browse to the file in your Downloads folder, right-click on it and click Run as administrator.

  5. Open a web browser, and go to portal.office.com. You can now reinstall Office. (64-bit recommended)
  6. Restart the computer.
  7. Open EasyWorship and test out your PowerPoint presentation in EasyWorship.
  8. If the PowerPoint presentations are still not working in EasyWorship, you will need to run the Office Uninstaller Tool again and then restart the computer again.
  9. When the computer comes back up, run the Office Uninstaller Tool one more time and choose the option to check for all previous versions of Office and then continue with the uninstall process. Once that is complete, restart the computer.
  10. Reinstall Office and restart the computer.
  11. Open EasyWorship and test the PowerPoint presentations again in EasyWorship.
