One common reason this could happen is if you had the beta of EW 7 installed and then installed the full release and uninstalled the beta after that. Uninstalling the beta could remove a shape data folder which would cause EW to draw an X where the shape should be.
Simply reinstalling EW 7.4.1.9 should fix this issue.

I am trying to create a new song but the first slide has an large diagonal X through it from corner to corner. This is new, despite using EW for about 20 years I have never seen this before. My version is registered Campus version for up to 99 person congregation and has never been changed.
I'm also having issues putting a background image or video on the song. So what gives?
