I have asked our computer supplier to quote a machine that meets the requirement specs, and what they sent back to me includes an Intel Xeon processor, as opposed to the i7. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!
That will work fine, but it sounds like they are quoting a workstation computer instead of a desktop computer. You'll pay a lot more for a workstation and the performance different will not be worth it. Also it seems that some manufacturers like D**L like to quote workstations for some reason, with low end expensive NVIDIA Quadro graphics cards that are not designed to do what we need them to do.
So, short answer is yes it will work, but if you have to pay over $1200 for the computer, it's probably not worth it.
