NAS drives are quickly replacing full servers in many instances where file sharing is required. They are a much cheaper option and are much easier to administer. Most NAS drives use a form of Linux for their operating systems. This can present a problem to EasyWorship when it is looking for permissions to read and write to the database that is stored on a NAS drive. Use the following steps to setup a share folder and an EasyWorship profile on a Synology NAS device. 

NOTE: The EasyWorship 7 database is able to support multiple concurrent connections. Performance will depend on your network connection and the speed of the NAS drive. If you are using a WiFi connection you may see slower results than if you are on a Gigabit wired connection. Using a NAS device requires you to be connected to the same network or LAN as the NAS device. 

First, you'll need to create a share folder on the NAS. You can skip this step if you have already set up the share you want to use. 

Follow these steps below for the NAS setup:

1. Log into the NAS management console. This is normally done through a web browser. 
2. Open File Station and create a new share folder, giving it the name and permissions you want to set. 
   
3. Open EasyWorship, click on the Profiles menu, then Profiles Manager. 
4. Create a new profile by clicking the Plus (+) button at the bottom-left of the Profile Editor. 
5. Enter the name you want to use for the profile.
   
6. Click the Advanced tab. If you are creating a new profile, make sure you select New in the Type drop-down. If you are connecting to an existing profile folder, select Existing in the Type drop-down. 
7. Click the Browse button to browse to the NAS drive and folder. 
8. Type \\{your nas drive name}\ and it should display a list of shared folders in a drop down. Select the share folder you want to use. If you are using an existing profile, browse the shared folder and select the existing profile folder.
   
   
9. Click OK.
10. On the Profile Editor screen, click on the link next to the Instance location for your NAS Profile.
    
11. A Windows File Explorer window will appear, displaying the contents of the profile folder. 
12. Go back one folder so you can see the profile folder and not the contents of the folder.
    
13. Right-click on the profile folder and click on Properties.
14. Click the Security tab, and then click Edit.
    
15. Click Add, enter the name Everyone in the box and click Check Names and OK.
    
16. Allow Everyone to have Full Control. Click Apply, OK, OK and close the Windows File Explorer.
    
17. If you do not set the Windows Permissions on this folder, you will see an error when trying to switch to the new profile stored on your NAS.
    
18. In the EasyWorship Profile Editor, select the profile you created and click Switch To. 
19. If the profile is a new profile, you may install the demo songs and media.
